Simple checklist before you sign anything

Here’s a quick checklist you can apply to any business telecoms quote – including offers from your current provider:
Minimum term
How long is it, per service (mobiles, hosted telephony, connectivity)?
Is it the same for all numbers, or different per connection?
Auto‑renewal
Does the contract auto‑renew?
If so, for how long (30‑day rolling, 12 months, 36 months)?
Notice period and method
How much notice is required (30 / 60 / 90 days)?
Where must notice be sent (exact email or postal address)?
Early‑termination charges
Is it simply remaining line rental, or line rental plus hardware funds plus device costs plus discount claw‑backs?
Are charges calculated per connection if you reduce numbers?
Pricing over time
Does the quoted price apply for the entire term?
If there’s an introductory rate, what is the exact date and amount of the price change?
If any of this isn’t clear in writing, ask for it to be clarified in the contract or proposal before you sign.
How Blackrock Communications does it differently
At Blackrock Communications, we see our role as protecting customers from these traps, not using them.
Our approach:
Plain‑English contracts – we explain term length, notice, renewal and exit costs clearly before you commit.
Transparent pricing – if there is a promotional rate, you know exactly when it ends and what the ongoing price will be. No mid‑term surprises.
Practical terms – we work to structure deals that reflect how businesses really operate, including growth, headcount changes and number moves.
Independent advice – because we work with multiple networks and suppliers, we can recommend the option that fits your business, not ours.
Free contract and bill review
If you’re worried your current or proposed contract might contain some of these traps, we can help.
Email us your latest mobile or hosted telephony contract and bill.
We’ll review the small print, highlight:
any auto‑renewal or notice issues,
how early‑termination is calculated,
where you may be overpaying.
You’ll get a clear, no‑jargon summary and options to improve your position – whether that’s with your current provider or by moving.
